MONDAY AND FRIDAY ROLL-UP PROCEDURES
Monday’s and Friday’s are our ‘roll up’ days and they are open to all members. They are relaxed but competitive, sometimes quirky, but always fun. They are less serious than the mid week competition days. The procedures for them are as follows:
-
For Monday's and Friday's, we check with the Club shop 3 weeks in advance whether tee times are available for a seniors’ block booking and reserve those tee times
-
For both Monday and Friday all participants should arrive at the clubhouse by 8:30 (winter) at the latest with a golf ball clearly marked with their name (that anybody can read!) and place it in the bag for the draw.
-
A random draw of all participants will take place at 8:35 where the competition of the day will be decided upon, usually a team event (e.g. best 3 from 4). We do like to make it a bit more interesting from time to time by adding certain other criteria to the competition (e.g. pressure ball). These are explained on the day.
-
We will try and accommodate members who have valid reasons for teeing off in one of the first or last groups (e.g. looking after the grandchildren etc) and also those members who wish to share a buggy.
-
The cost to participate in the roll up is £1 collected by the player marking the card and collected by the organiser - the winning teams collecting the spoils.
-
At the end of the round it is customary for members to congregate in the clubhouse for drinks and excuses where the winners are announced after the last card has been handed in.
Wednesday Competitions and other Senior Competitions
In most months there are 4 Wednesdays and Seniors produce organised draws, according to the event.
-
Club Medal, 2) Club WTS/RTS, 3) Club YTS/RTS, 4) Seniors Medal/OOM
When there are more than 4 Wednesdays in the month a further Senior comp is normally organised. The procedures are as follows:
A) Sign-up sheets
Sign-up sheets will be posted on the Seniors’ notice boards in good time (typically 3 weeks prior to the event). If you wish to play in the event you should enter your name clearly (once only!) in the next available slot. The four regular competitions are pay on the day.
The occasional fifth competition will have instructions on the sign-up sheet of cost and how to pay. Failure to comply with those instructions will result in not being included in the draw.
B) The Draw
The sign-up sheets will be taken down 7 days prior to the event ie for Wednesday competitions the previous Wednesday.
The event organiser will make the draw and publish it at least 5 days prior to the event ie for Wednesday competitions the previous Friday.
The draw will be placed on the website and placed on the notice board, a copy being sent to the pro-shop.
At this point any spare prebooked tee times will be released back to the club.
Late entrants should contact the organiser before the following Monday and will be included in the draw only at the discretion of the organiser.
C) Revisions to the draw
On the Monday the revised draw will be issued to all players whose tee times are impacted, including the late entrants, any requests after that date will go on a reserve list, again at the discretion of the organiser.
D) Withdrawing from an event
Should a player wish to withdraw from a competition after the draw has taken place, please do so at the earliest opportunity (ie at latest before 11.00 am on the day before the event).
You should notify both the Club shop and the organiser.
Just failing to turn up is not an option unless it is absolutely unavoidable. It is considered to be very inconsiderate to your fellow players.
If you just fail to turn up to a prepaid event then your entrance fee will not be refunded, but donated to the Captain's Fund.
